Aaron James Wins Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400
The town of Goondiwindi in Queensland hosted the fifth round of the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Series, and Alumi Craft Racer Aaron James earned the overall win. The five lap, 400 kilometre course at the Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400 is known for mel
The punishing terrain is a major test of drivers and their cars. The melon holes pound the cars suspensions and launch them into the air when hit at speed. Drivers have to make lightning quick steering, throttle, and braking inputs count while the tires are in contact with the ground. Speed is important but a balanced, well handling car is crucial.
Aaron James loaded up his Alumi Craft Unlimited buggy and made the 1400km trek to Goondiwindi with his navigator Peter Luckraft, sons Tanner and Lachlan, and his good mate Adrian Lucey who works the pit. “We enjoyed 3 days of the great hospitality of the Goondiwindi locals and then returned yesterday to our home base in Dareton NSW” said James.
“Our road trip took us across outback New South Wales where you pass far more kangaroos and emus walking on the road than other vehicles. The Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400 had 100 competitors in total. The race format is qualifying and a Top 10 shoot-out, followed by one lap on Saturday, then 4 laps on Sunday. We won the event outright and the unlimited buggy class by 2 minutes and 44 seconds. The racing was very tight and the conditions were dusty. It was extremely pleasing to win the race through tough hard racing.”
Aaron’s Jamesprint Motorsport team #93 Alumi Craft Aussie Special Unlimited buggy was designed by John Cooley for Australian racing conditions. The car has the steering wheel on the right hand side and features King Shocks, an Albins 5 speed sequential transmission, and a Ford EcoBoost 3.5ltr twin turbo engine built by Shane Wilson Competition Race Engines. The power is transferred to the dirt through Mickey Thompson tyres.
Alumi Craft racers like Aaron James prove again and again the superior performance provided by their meticulously crafted cars. No matter the terrain, or which side the steering wheel is on, Alumi Craft is committed to providing you with a competitive, safe and reliable vehicle that exceeds your expectations.
